The Stoney Creek Landscape Is Changing
16 – 18 King St. W., Stoney Creek Condo Proposal
If you drive down King St. in Stoney Creek on your way home, to work or just to run errands you will have noticed a big white sign on vacant land located at 16-18 King St. W. near Battlefield. The development firm MM Green Development Inc. is applying to change the zoning for this property to allow for an 8 storey, mixed use (Commercial and Residential) building. Currently the land is zoned for a 3 storey commercial building, from the rendering below (Img. A) you can see how the footprint might look once, and if, the project is completed. Bowlerama Making Way for Condo Development
There are not nearly as many details on this project just yet but it looks like an 8 storey condo building is proposed where the current Bowlerama site is, a rendering of the building is below (Img. B). I know we have taken our kids to Bowlerama many times and some have raised concerns that Stoney Creek is losing a lot of its charm to make way for Condo buildings, we still don’t know the fate of Stoney Creek United Church but rumours of a similar mixed use building have come and gone.

Another Condo in Stoney Creek?
If you search through the website of the design firm involved in the proposal at 16-18 King St. W., ICON Architects, you will also see a plan for a 13 storey residential building with 211 units and two levels of underground parking. The address listed is 2782 Barton St. E. in Stoney Creek (Img. C). This location seems to be the large piece of undeveloped land next to Wimpy’s Diner near Grays Rd.
